THANK heaven for humor, because for some reason this last thought struck a funny bone, LOL anyone worth their salt has a good therapist in there pocket right? Its so in fashion. This lightened my load a bit but I knew I was still in a fragile state so I decided to go to church early and watch the choir practice. Then my thoughts went something like this "at least this way I can't yell at my kids or husband or go into a hysterical bout of crying.
As I was sitting in the pew my thoughts went to our Heavenly Father. Even though I thought it was funny earlier, I DO have the best therapist around. He is there when ever I need him. He pays me in blessings, and only gives out advice when I am listening. He is ALWAYS right, and always knows whats best for me. He has provied assistance at all times, and the best instructional books written. When ever I need to I can go to his house and feel loved and at peace. How blessed we are to have a knowledge of our Father in Heaven and to be able to go to him when our burdens are just too much too bare.

Well hey ya'll

It has been forever since I have posted anything! We lived on the 17th floor of a great apartment building, on the main floor their was a jazz cafe (I loved it!) It was very modern...in fact we were told that the Mosaic (that's the name of our apartment building) was the hippest place to live in Dallas (like jay and I really cared, but we did have alot of fun).
Jason got to visit all the places he served on his mission, he even got to go on splits with the missionaries. It was so fun to meet some of the people Jason had the opportunity to baptise, in fact we had some over for dinner...loved it!

SWEET HOME ALABAMA!

I'll have to say living in Alabama was just like coming home!!! I love the South, I have missed Kentucky for years, it was so nice to be back, and so needed for my piece of mind! We lived in a beach cottage right on Gulf Shores, What an amazing place, Gulf Shores is a peninsula that reaches out to Dolphin island, behind our cottage was a wildlife preserve and in front was beautiful white sand beaches, most of the time we were the only ones on the beach besides the locals that lived there! We could see dolphins jumping out of the ocean everyday! The girls and I made it a daily practice to collect shells in the morning, in the evening we would catch crabs and do a crab and shrimp boil for dinner ( we ate alot of crabs and shrimp!!! Its so good and cheap!). The first night we came in we were standing on our screen porch (they are all screened because the bugs are crazy!!) and Savannah yelled in great excitement "oh my gosh theres an alligator" sure enough there he was, an 6ft gator just hanging out!! So Jay got it in his head that he was going to wrestle the alligator, at first I thought he was kidding...but nope he wasn't, I have learned that when Jay get a certain look in his eyes there is no talking him out of it! So for the next couple of weeks he tried to get close to the gator and a few time got too close for me, I started to relax thinking that he wasn't going to be successful, well close to the time we were about to leave Jay brought home raw chicken, I am not going to tell the rest of the story I'll let Jay blog about it but he did wrestle that dang gator...I almost had a heart attack, after it was all said and done Jay said "Well if I wasn't a man before I sure am now"... yeah that's my husband.
We have two new family members, one turtles name is crush because he is about a foot long and a foot wide and the other is called squirt because he is only about the size of my big toe, but I'll let Savannah blog about that one :)
To put icing on the cake we made the greatest friends, Brigit and Tim Holmes from New Orleans. They had three daughters one set of ten year old twins and a thirteen year old, all girls, Savannah and Shiloh felt like they had died and gone to heaven, and they home schooled to boot!! In short I think there is a piece of my heart that belongs to Gulf Shores...oh yeah I did some great rides too, on one of my rides Jay and I stumble on to a huge civil war site called Fort Morgan!!! Heaven, Heaven, Heaven!!!

The Big Easy
Now we are in New Orleans...I love it!! The culture is so rich. The French Quarter is really cool (very old) there are buildings that are over 200 years old. The food is absolutely amazing...we have met some great people...heard some great Jazz...and seen some really weird Voo doo things, with that said the crime is pretty high. The house we are living in right now has bars on the windows, I would still live here though, the coolness far out weighs the crime:) PICTURES OF NEW ORLEANS COMING :)

Where to Now
Now we are off to Miami!!! Leaving Saturday, we will be meeting up with our long lost brother! Then went to the biggest Rodeo /Livestock show in the country.

High Lights

1. Met a wonderful couple, Brother and Sister Rowbury.
2. Saw, and got to feed Texas longhorns.
3. Saw a Longhorn try to butt Brother Rowbury
4. The girls got to go to the restroom in a outhouse...they thought it was awesome!
5. Video taped a armadillo.
6. We got to hold and pet pot belly pigs.
7. Saw a pig race!! Very cool, savannah won a pig nose because her pig won one of the races.
8. We ate Deep fried Oreo's, twinkies, smors, ice cream, snickers candy bar, green tomatos, and much much more...feeling a little bad about all the junk I ate...but it was goooood!
9. Took a rowboat out on the ranch pond.
10. Holland.
I have loved visititing so many differant Relief Societies this past year, what a treasure the R.S is for women! I love this organization with all my heart, I've met so many women with open hearts and arms over the years. This last adventure in my life has really shown me how priceless my fellow sisters really are, they truley are Heavenly Fathers angels! Every R.S. I have had the pleasure of attending I've been treated like an old friend, how wonderful in my situtation when my famliy and I are in constant transition. Every sister has a purpose in the Kingdom of God...I have been able to meet many LDS women from varying backgrounds, but with one common purpose "Charity never failieth". The only thing I don't like in meeting these fantastic sisters, is having to leave them. I am gratiful for the angels in my life.

Deep fried!

Okay...so I have a new obession...well maybe an addiction. Jay and I went to a cajun resturant the other night it was FABULOUS!!! Houston is only about three hours from New Orleans so were talkin the real deal, the food spoke right to my heart (well maybe just my stomach, but it sure felt like love). The menu had alligator and frog legs among other enticing culanary treats. But I just can't get my mind off of the DEEP FRIED PICKLES yes I said deep fried, and Mmmmm Mmmm they were so good, they are going to love my hips for some time too ( no regrets, I wouldn't even mind getting fat and happy off of the gumbo and rum drench bread pudding) I am missing Utah, but wondering when we move back am I going to miss my deep fried pickles more? no doubt! As many of you know my family and I have been traveling for several months. I have loved it...it has been a great experience in many ways for all of us, but there are time's when so much transition can be a little wearing. With that said last Sunday I was feeling down because I have always had a calling in which to serve, but with all the traveling we are never in one place longer than three weeks so we are always just visitors. So this week I got the girls some Valentines to make...Shiloh was so excited...she filled out all thrity two that I bought her, and then proceeded to give the cards to all the Hotel staff including the front desk, house keeping, the grounds keeper, and a few of the hotel guest. The next day we made cookies, shiloh ate a few then snuck out the door and took the staff a half dozen cookies. I thought it was cute, but didn't give it much thought. Then today the front desk presented to her a very cute Valentines Day gift and a thank you. It hit me that my seven year old knew how to serve regardless of any appointed calling. I love that my children can teach me, I am going to follow her example and try to spread more kindness around...I am so excited to start blogging miss you all. This thought shocked me " time really does fly when you are having fun". I couldn't help think that in eight, nine, ten years she will seek out on her own, and I won't alway be the center of her attention. At first I felt a sadness wash over me...life just seems to come so fast. But as I have had time to reflect each past season and future season of her life are perious and unique within themseleves.
" A mothers energy is diverted when she attempts to do it all, "all at the same time. Perhaps we can do many things; but we must exercise patience to do them in the appointed season" Shona Parker. I truly belive that mothers can try so hard at being the "perfect mom" that they end up missing some of the most beautiful seasons of our chilrens lives, I am not excluded from this catigory. One of my favorite examples of this is the bibical story of Mary and Martha from the book of Luke. We all know the story, Christ was coming to dine and teach in the sister's home. Martha was fratically trying to prepare for the Saviors visit, and in the process became preoccupied with having it just "so", I'll stop here... I love Martha, she was a good woman, I believed that she loved the Savior just as much as Mary...she just had gotton her priorities mixed up, I identify with Martha much more than Mary most of the time, yet Mary teaches a very important lesson, Luke 10:42 "One thing is needful: and Mary has chosen that good part" So what did Mary do...I think the most important thing Mary's example tells us is that she knew when it was time to learn and cherish our Savior Jesus Christ...so what does this have to do with our children..."To everthing there is a season" my greatest prayer is that I stop to learn and cherish my children as much as I can...but I have realized that I can't learn or cherish if am alway wishing I was in a differant season.
We are too hard on ourselves...we need to stop and realize that our chilren were sent to us for a reason...our kids don't really care if our house is decorated, if the dishes sit in the sink for a day, if we drive a super nice car, or that we my be slightly over weight...all they wish for is a happy mother that spends time with them. With that said I am trying to live in the present season of my life and of my childrens, and in my very small way make a choice to Chose the one needful thing, the good part. With all my love Jess

Ready Set Go!!!

Well it is a new school year for the Preston family, and we are so excited! We already have a week on our belt. I have decided to post more on homeschooling mixed with other family happenings because that consumes the greater part of my time, and energy. We celebrated her birthday last Friday it was a blast!

She is no longer a little girl, it seems like she changed into a amazing young lady over night without my notice. We are so pleased with her spirit and moral character. She amazes me all the time, she is truly one of the chosen generation the brethren talk about. Savannah has a good balance between a tough girl, yet feminine at the same time. This summer was so fun to watch her compete in BMX. Now she is learning to play the piano, and she is doing it in typical Savannah style, with all her might. She also has a great sense of fun, she doesn't take life to seriously (which is great because if you can't laugh at yourself then life is dull and boring, I think I would rather laugh than cry, life is way too short). Love ya all Jess

The Son warms my heart.

Well hello ya'all!

I realized that I haven't posted for quite some time, I am still alive, just super busy. I've taken on more cycling classes, and teaching my girls at home tends to take alot of my time (I wouldn't trade it for the world). I just want to say hello and let you all know that I am thinking about you.

I also feel so grateful for my sweet, sweet family. I get pretty sentimental when the holidays draw near. I have been thinking about Thanksgiving, and all that I am thankful for! I am quite overwhelmed when I think about all of my blessings. I am truly a blessed women. I have amazing kids, and a husband that is my best friend.

My friends all have such amazing qualities that I feel I learn from their example everyday. I have the peace and comfort that comes with living the Gospel and being able to share my load with our Savior Jesus Christ, and hearing the spirits promptings letting me know that "men (women) are that they might have joy"2 Nephi 2:25 . A few days ago I had a bit of a hard day, it left me feeling sad and dark (all of us have these days right) I came home and turned on the hymns, I was instantly comforted, my mind and soul was at peace, what a blessing to draw on the powers of Heaven and gain that sweet warm feeling that only the Savior can give. I want to say thank you all for the people that you are and that I love ya dearly Jess.

I love this Scripture John 16:33

" ... In the world ye shall have tribulations: but be of good cheer; I have over come

the world."

A Bountiful Day

Ahh, harvest time is so beautiful in it's quiet earthy bountiful way. I love Indian summer, Jay and I are so blessed with great friends, healthy children, and a Heavenly Father that loves us and cares for us. This Friday was a "perfect day" my girls and I spent the day exploring books and nature. Then we rolled up our sleeves and shucked a galvanized tub full of the best tasting sweet corn "thank you, thank you Shawna and Kevin".

Time stood still with the warmth of the day and the warmth and peace that came to my heart. God is real and he is everywhere.

From Auguries of INNOCENCE

To see the World in a Grain of Sand

And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,

Hold infinity in the palm of your hand

And Eternity in an hour.

William Blake

Being Content

Well, the girls and I have been into our school year almost a whole month! At first I entered with a bit of trepidation. Homeschooling has been one of the hardest but most rewarding things I have ever done. With this being our second year, I was worried that it would be as hard as the first, so now with school started and rolling I am glad to say that it has been a delight, that dosen't mean that Shiloh dosen't throw a fit when it is time to do phonics or that savannah isn't thrilled to read to me for 45 mins, but I can finally see the rewards. Shiloh has begun reading books, and liking it! Savannahs math capablities have increased and I can see some confidence coming from the whole experience. What a wonderful joy to be with my girls ( that dosn't mean I don't drive pass elementary schools tempted to kick their cute little rears out the door, so I can go to the spa and have me time, I'm only human).

I loved sister Marjorie Hinckley, in my mind I sort of adopted her as a grandmother, so today I was reading her words and it remined me of being a mother and finding joy in our children.

"Find joy in your children. Don't overschedule them or yourself. You may not be able to take them on exotic vacations. It dosen't matter. When the day dawns bright and sunny, take an excursion to the canyons or the park. When it's cloudy and wet, read a book together or make somthing good to eat. Give them time to explore and learn about the feel of grass and the wiggliness of worms."

Willam Blake wrote " When the voices of children are heard on the green

And laughing is heard on the hill,

My heart is at rest within my breast

And everything else is still."

I am content.

Ahh, sugar, sugar...

I found this article, by the clean eating master herself. Sugar can be such a weakness during the seasons to come, but really folks, it is a slow killer. When I do eat sugar (and you all know I do, I am an addict), I have huge downs, my immune system is whacked, my body gains unhealthy fat, and I am encouraging future diseases etc...yikes! So read this it helps me avoid the sweet stuff.

Sugar Crackdown!

By Tosca Reno
The sooner North Americans learn to recognize simple sugars as a public enemy in the same way they view germs in the bathroom as vile, the sooner their health will improve and their waistlines will decrease. Ridiculous? Think about it for a moment. We sanitize, scrub, wash, bleach and disinfect the devil out of germs, but we consume, indulge, munch, snack, nibble and scarf sugars without a second thought. What gives?
The reality is many of us don’t recognize poor-quality ingredients in the foods we consume. The average adult’s sugar consumption has increased by more than 30 percent in 20 years. Sugar’s seductive sweetness plays havoc on the body, with hormone-related illnesses like type 2 diabetes reaching unprecedented levels.
Let’s not sugarcoat it
Never before has a population faced the onslaught of obesity-related diseases that we encounter today. Many of these diseases are thought to be brought on by consuming too much sugar. And it’s everywhere! Eating a turkey deli sandwich? There are three grams of sugar per slice of turkey alone. Was that ketchup with your fries? More sugar – it’s like candy, virtually everywhere.
Here are some hard facts for you:
• On average, North Americans drink approximately 355 milliliters or 12 fluid ounces of soda each day – the equivalent to 10 teaspoons of refined sugar. That adds to a weight gain of 12 pounds per year!
• But that’s not all – that was only soda. The average North American consumes 23 teaspoons of sugar each day! Not looking good for the waistline.
Carbs: Do I or don’t I?
Carbs have gotten a bad rap – especially as a result of fad diets. Yet carbohydrates, which break down into sugar in the body, are necessary fuel for strenuous exercise. However, it’s important to recognize the difference between simple and complex carbs: They metabolize at different rates. Simple carbs (white bread and pasta, chips, cookies) spike sugar levels, while complex carbs (whole grains, veggies, most fruit) keep blood sugar levels steady longer. They keep you feeling full longer too. Slow conversion is ideal so you don’t experience that crash or the dreaded 3:00 p.m. slump! As a bonus, you won’t get appetite swings, food cravings will dwindle and your energy will soar.

Mind Over Matter

I read this in Oxygen Mag, I really like this publiction ( I don't like alot of women fitness or health mags because most of the time it is watered down and the only objective is weight loss, but oxygen is a peg or two above the rest, even though its focus is on fitness competion).

“If I want change, I need a challenge.” –Trainer Jonathan Ross, who explains that your body will only respond to a stimulus that is more difficult than what it’s used to.
“I am the architect of my life.” –Health and fitness expert Maggie Greenwood-Robinson, Ph.D., who says that getting in optimum shape will help not only your body, but also your happiness and that of your family.

“Calm and focused.” (Or “peaceful” or “powerful” or “vital.”) –Trainer Gregory Florez, who explains that calming words will help with stretching while powerful words will help with high-energy activities like strength training and aerobic exercise.

“Just one more.” –Ultramarathoner Dean Karnazes, who ran 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 days and wrote 50/50 (Wellness Central, 2008). I love fall, and the season change but I dread the decline in good diet and exercise that seems to follow, So this year I have decided to not put off my New Year Resolution. I am going to start a Fall Resolution! Hopefully with new set goals, and a fresh out look, I can avoid holiday diet suicide. So anyone that would like to join me in my protest of gaining the Fall to Christmas 10lbs, and start their own Fall Resolution, I would love to hear about it (you know strength in numbers and all that Jazz). I would also like any tips, recipes (healthy low fat, yet to fit the season recipes)or anything that might be motivating. I am super excited to start, I love healthy eating, fall is the best time to avoid sugars, preservatives etc, because those are the things that tear down your immune system, with colds and influenza on the rise it's nice to know your body will be up for the fight. love ya all Jess

Biking Adventures

I have had a blast this year on the bike! I was able to fit a few centuries in and a ton of climbs, what more could a girl ask for? This last weekend Jay and I went to oruray Colorado, on the way we stopped in Moab ( I love Moab) we decided to ride through arches and their about, the red rock was breath taking! Then we drove to colorado and rode the million dollar highway, 12,000 feet of climbing ( I was loving it) Jay told me the the altidude was so high it was like riding your bike to the summit of timp, the veiws were just amazing, the closest thing we have to compare it to in Utah is snowbird, but on steriods. I didn't notice the thin air until after my ride, then my body freaked and I had a cough for about an hour after. We went into Silverton and clicked our way around town I love showing off my spandex!(not). The little town of sliverton was so cool, and the people were sooo friendly. I recomend a bike vaction there, it was a great time.

Savannah's First Race!

Savannah did great! It was alot of fun buying her all the gear, she such a tough girl. I worry though at age eight, if she is catching air and summiting mountains, what is she going to do when she's eighteen "base jumping"? We have had an awesome week! I am trying to decide what I want to post 1st. Savannah and dad decided to hike Timp again, but start it at midnight (that's why Shiloh and I stayed home this year...Shilohs dead to the world at about 10p.m. I just didn't think her little body could handle it). Jason wanted to watch the sunrise, they had some great adventures, including running into a moose and sliding down the glacier way to fast! Shiloh and I walked to the Legacy Center (remember it was pioneer day we couldn't drive) and went swimming. Shiloh decided to face her fear and go down the grown up water slide, I thought she was going to chicken out once we got up there, never happened she went down like a champ! When she was done I asked her how it was, and she responded adrenaline driven " It was wicked" then went down the slide like 20 more times! The next day we all went canoeing including Lisa Gale, I love the river, Jay according to character capsized the boat. Boy that man keeps me young...after retrieving the camera out of the water and convincing Lisa that the boat was indeed safe (then I laughed). We are still waiting for our new camera to arrive in the mail, the old one just couldn't take the hard playing.

Legacy Of Faith

With Pioneer Day approaching, my mind is full of thoughts of my ancestors, a few weeks ago I was able to attend a family reunion on the Fenton side there they had made copies of a record written by my great, great aunt Estelle. I was so impressed when I read these records about my Great, Great, Great Grandmother Ann Cook West and her pilgrimage to the "Land of Promise" I have decided to share just a few entries that struck my heart, and has given me a glimpse of what my family had to go through to grow the Kingdom. A little back ground Ann Cook was born in 1824 in Draycott, Derby England and was Baptised 1848 she married my great, great, great, Grandfather Nov,1854 and sailed for America Jan 1855, this entry is about the ship voyage to America, and crossing the plains.

"The ship Charles Buck left Liverpool with 402 saints aboard it. Passengers were required to bring their own food and bedding. The sea was rough and they encountered many storms. Cholera broke out on the ship and a number had to be buried at sea. Food had to be rationed and many were ill. Grandmother ( this is aunt Estelle speaking) told of one woman whose baby died and she carried it with her wrapped in a shawl, for three days to keep the ships officer from knowing that it was dead...she couldn't stand to have it lowered into the sea. The ship moored at New Orleans 1855 at least eight weeks on the ocean under very trying conditions...They crossed the plains with the forth company of immigrants. There were 402 saints with 45 wagons, they had to walk most of the way. When the company arrived at Mormon Grove, Grandmother ( Ann cook West) was exhausted from privation and to much walking. Her baby was born under an umbrella which was held over her to protect her from rain.... she was left in such bad physical condition that she suffered from it the rest of her life. This pioneer company arrived in S.L.C Sept 1855. Grandfather had 50 cents and grandma had two black silk dresses and a bustle, stuffed with white silk gloves. Grandma pulled her dresses apart and sold the silk for trimmings...a yard at a time She also de-busseled the bussel and sold the gloves."

Later in the record Estelle talks about the conditions of living in a dug out, and how the ground was infested with fleas. How amazing the scarifies this woman went through to live and follow the Gospel! In the record it later speaks about how prosperous they became later ,and how generous and hard working both of them were outside and within the Church. I am so extremely grateful for their Legacy of Faith! They were doing what the Lord commaned them to do, what a beautiful example of faith, thank you, thank you, my dearest Great Great Great Grandma Ann!

Butterfly Friends

I really love blogging! It has opened a world of communiction with old friends and new! A dear friend of mine gave me this poem, and I thought of all the beautiful people that have touch my life, I wish I had more time to see everyone but with busy lives, distance, and children it can be hard, so thank heaven for the internet. I just want to say I love you all, I think this poem is wonderful, it expresses how I feel about my dear friends.

"Friendship is like a butterfly fluttering here and there,

Lighting upon your shoulders, sitting in your hair.

Sometimes we only grasp it for a moment or two.

There are the ones that stay and together friendship is new. I wish to thank the butterfly who flew into my heart.

At first it was a stranger but was kind right from the start.

The warmth and love it radiated made me feel at ease.

And I wish to keep it's friendship and hope it never leaves.

So I thank you dear sweet butterfly, as I watch you soar above,

Spreading joy wherever you land and bringing with you love."

Have a Sweet Day!!

July 4th!

Bike race, suntan contest, and cannon ball jumping! What do these have in common, the 4th of July, We had the best time. Jason and Robbie towed both girls on the tagalongs, I road single which was fine by me, specially after watching how painful those hill climbs looked with the added weight! After the ride we went to enter the suntan contest; their was a guy from Africa, I thought there is no way we will win but fortunately the contest was based on how light you were to how dark you became. Robbie won 1st place and Shiloh won 1st place in the child's category, they both won beach blankets and a beach bag. It made Shilohs day even though she was kinda confused about why she won ( suntans just aren't important when you a kid). We decided to break from tradition and have mex instead of steaks and hamburgars, it was great. I could write alot more but I will be honest we played so much that I am exhausted! Happy 4th!

Giddy up "Cow girl"

We had so much fun over at the Leakes the other night! Our ward made a float for Lehi Round up and the Girls were all able to participate. Shiloh got to sit on the float in a rocking chair and pretend to sew the American flag as Betsy Ross, she was sooo excited, by the end of the parade she was super hot and sweaty, and her arms got a bit sore from waving, but all in all she had a terrific time. Savannah, was chosen to hold the banner she did a great job the banner got heavy after the first 15 mins of walking, but if you know Savannah she was a trooper. Lisa had the time of her life! Somebody gave her a water bottle and Jason(of course) talked her into squirting people (in the face). Lisa has always had an obsession with the police...from all the years watching reruns of COPS. So to make a long story short she nailed them the most! What can you do right, she's handicap! I was laughing so hard. I have to mention Jojo my buddy, she was in charge of her ward float, talk about over achiever, check out the pics and you will know why. Jordon you rock!

I love Lehi, I remember telling someone a long time ago that I would like to live in a small town. Lehi is growing at a rapid pace, but it has maintained that small town feel.

"Become as a little child"

As I was going to sleep last night my mind was flooded with thoughts of our dear Lisa, what a blessing she is in our life. Yesterday I was sitting on my bed reading and I could see Lisa from my bedroom she was giving her stuff doggie a b-day party, it was so precious. Hearing Lisa sing "Happy Birthday doggy" it was so cute she had a fake plastic B-day cake and pretending to feed it to her dear dog. As I lay awake I couldn't help think how Christ like Lisa is truly. Lisa is an amazing person, I was thinking of all the natural man, natural women problems that non handicap people deal with, and how Lisa is so beautifully without. I made a list mentally, Lisa has never gossiped, she has never been insecure, she has never felt pride looking up or looking down on people. Lisa has never raised her voice in anger or lost her temper, she doesn't take offence and she never brags, I am just listing the things she has never done, my list would be infinitely longer if I were t list all the good she dose. But here are just a few, she is always smiling, she loves people, she is always trying to help out. She is concerned about other peoples welfare... and I could go on and on. I came to the conclusion that spiritually I am the handicap person not Lisa, she is my teacher, and I love her dearly.

let loose the Endorphins!

I am a bit new at this blogging thing, but if it is truly my blog I should mention my obsession with exercise and cycling. I was climbing Traverse mountain the other day, and I realized that when I am out on my bike or have worked up a huge sweat I feel more alive than I do any other time of the day. I love my heart pumping and my lungs bursting, it is the only time I am really conscious of my body and how it works. It is amazing to me how we can train our bodies to run forever or to climb a huge mountain, or simply grow stronger by lifting a few times a week. When I get into "that zone" and feel my body come alive everything around me becomes alive as well, the trees, the long road ahead of me, the hot sun above me, I am a junkie!Don't get me wrong there are days when I am just not motivated "like my Monday morning 6am cycling class, but I never regret it once I am there and moving. I know it has taught me some valuable lessons about perseverance and hard work, it makes me a better person, a better mother and wife, and I feel good and healthy, what more can I ask for. I thank my Heavenly Father for a healthy body and the opportunity I have to use it! I am so blessed

One Big happy family.

Well this week was so much fun! I got to have almost all my nieces and nephews come and play with me! I love them all, I am such a lucky aunt and mom. I thought it would be fun to go to the gardens and the dinosaur museum and of course spend alot of time at the pool. It was fun to have them all together, we even had some neighbor kids in the mix at some of our outings! It was a bit hard keeping track of everyone at one point I just kept counting seven heads at all times. No one got lost or drowned so I think we did pretty good.

The Great Outdoors.

Jason and I had a great opportunity to go help work on the new Girls Camp in Heber. It was amazing, when we arrived a Senior missionary gave us a intro to why they decided to build a new camp (all the missionaries are Seniors, they are only called for 6 months out of the year) he explained that Pres. Hinkely had, had a vision and that the church needed to buy some property for a new girls camp. The church set out to buy some property in Herber they found about 40 acres, but pres. Hinckley said it wasn't enough, ultimately the church bought 8,500 acres give or take for the camp! WOW! It was beautiful, we had a great time, I was the only woman there as a volunteer, it was pretty funny, all the old men were concerned that I was overdoing it, but if anyone knows me it just made me all the more determined to prove how strong I was even if I was getting tuckered out! We got to clear a construction site first then our next job was clearing out logs and throwing them in a ravine so they could chip the wood for trails. I love this kind of labor!

Father's Day Pig Out fest!!

Well Father's Day was sooo much fun! I don't know anyone who deserves it more than Jason! He is always putting his family first. I truly love that man! I am astounded by how much support and compliments I get from my husband. When Jason gets home from work his first thought is to find his girls and spend quality time with them, then if I don't have dinner made ( which is quite often) he sends me up stairs to relax and offers to make dinner, what a babe! He never complains that the house is messy ( well occasionally he will hint if my "organized piles get to high and smelly" )but he has never, and I mean never complained about my house keeping skills, and that doesn't mean I am an amazing house keeper, far from it. He's is my best friend and I couldn't have pick a better companion for this crazy journey through life! Fathers Day was Preston Style, if you don't know what that is, it means there was an abundance of food, laughter, and a tisp of chaos, and a few overly sore bellies when the day was done. I want to mention some of the other Father's in my life, my own dad, grandpa Fenton, man was I lucky to have a dad like my day, I don't think anyone could have loved me more! He is an awesome person. My Father in law Gus has the biggest heart of anyone I know, he has a undying devotion for his kids that I truly love about him. I can't forget all my brother's! They are all wonderful! To those I didn't see, Happy Fathers Day! She loves speed and the open air! Putting her in cycling gear was too much fun. They had a great time, Shilohs favorite ride is from our house (we live by the Alpine Highway) to Thanksgiving Point. Jason likes to go to the ice cream parlor and split a ice cream sundae with her "who wouldn't love that! Jason's new goal for next year is to start a big junior team and I mean junior, he's already checking out road bikes for savannah, she will be able to race at 10 years old. Savannah is super excited I think we might have created a monster! She really loves to ride with dad! I love the way everything comes back to life in the spring including parts of my soul. Being out in the fresh air, seeing all the colorful aromatic blooms was intoxicating for us, we had been couped up for a very long and harsh winter. Anyhow I thought it would be fun to teach Shiloh how to do cartwheels, so I tucked in my shirt and went to it, my first few attempt were laughable but it came back just like riding a bike. Shiloh and I got good and dizzy turning over and turning over, I think a few times I actually fell but I didn't care there wasn't really anyone around to see my 31 year old self flipping over and falling. So after my so called lesson we wandered up the hill to get a drink, and on the way I noticed a nice elderly couple had been watching us, I said hello to the nice looking women and we proceeded to the drinking fountain as the couple walked passed us they stopped and The gentleman "looked at me with a jolly eye and a laugh in his voice and asked me if I wouldn't mind teaching him how to do cartwheels as well, laughed and then I realized I was talking to an apostle of the Lord, Elder Tom Perry! It was really a wonderful day, later I thought about his comment and what he said holds so true to his book "Living with enthusiasm". I think we as a society have gotten in the habit of negativity. I hear alot more "I have to's" Than "I get to's" and that includes myself, really this life is a bottomless pitcher of blessings if we choose to recognize them or change the way we see them. I am so thankful for the Gospel in my life, being a member of Christ true church here on earth today. I have been given so many opportunities to serve in turn I am more blessed than I was before so I am going to try to remember "I get to's "and "I have an opportunity to" in my life and take what may seem a irritating gain of sand and remember to keep in mind that only pearls come from being positive!

Snake!!!!

I am continually surprised with my girls and their interest! But this interest I can honestly say I am a bit creeped out about! Savannah, has decided that she likes snakes, and of course sister Shiloh followed suit. Jason and the girls caught a Snake around our house Saturday doing yard work, Savannah fell in love and hauled the slimy thing around all day. Savannah, didn't want to part with her new friend so we allowed her to take her snake over to aunt Chars in a Tupperware while grandpa Gus watched them on date night. Well low and behold a couple hours later Savannah went to check on Herbie the snake and it wasn't in the Tupperware, Charlene and Steven had gone on on a mini vacation, that weekend, so char who is deathly afraid of snakes had no idea there was one lose in her house. The next day we got a call from Char she told us that a snake was found coiled up next to their phone on the counter top, needless to say it freaked poor Charlene out! She thought that maybe there was a mom snake that had, had lots of little creepy baby snakes in her house so thinking about Jason and his past history decided to find out if he was behind this snakie situation. Jason exclaimed it wasn't him this time, it was his adorable spawn that had left her such a cuddly present! anyway I hate to admit it but I was a relived that the sweet Herbie got let lose!

Thoughts by margorie Hinckley

"It's a valuable exercise to close your eyes every once and a while and think, "what is the most wonderful moment I have lived through during the past year?" This was my first year homeschooling, what an experience! We have had such good times, and I will be honest rocky moments too, but such is life, anything worth doing takes time and hard work! The work is so sweet though, it has been a wonderful year of learning about each other and watching my girls grow and realize their potential. I get to see the lights of understanding and love of learning shine bright in their eyes. They get to be with their mother and follow her example( heavy responsibly for me, but I will try my best to live up to being a righteous daughter of our Heavenly Father because that is my greatest hope for them). I recently read Little Women for the second time in my life, this second time around was so rich with wisdom I guess because I am a mother. Marmee gives jo some words of wisdom, what she saids explains exactly how I feel about my girls, (Marmee) " Your father, Jo. He never loses patients-never doubts or complains-but always hopes, and works, and waits so cheerfully that one is ashamed to do other wise before him. He helped and comforted me, and showed me that I must try to practice all the virtues I would have my little girls possess, for I was their example. It was easier to try for your sakes than for my own; a startled or surprised look from one of you, when I spoke sharply, rebuked me more than any words could have done; and the love respect and confidence of my children was the sweetest reward I could receive for my efforts to be the woman I would have them copy.....( Marmee later states)" If I don't seem to need help it is because I have a better friend, even than father, to comfort and sustain me. My child, the troubles and temptations of your life are beginning, and may be many; but you can overcome and outlive them all if you learn and feel the strength and tenderness of your Heavenly Father as you do that of your earthly one. The more you love and trust Him, nearer you will feel to Him, and the less you will depend on human power and wisdom. His love and care never tire or change, can never be taken from you, but may become the source of lifelong peace, happiness, and strength. Believe this heartily, and go to God with all your little cares, and hopes, and sins, and sorrows, as freely and confidingly as you come to your mother". I am so honored and happy to be Savannah and Shiloh's mom, and to be blessed to spend so much time with them, they really are amazing kids; and amazing enough they don't really ever tire of having me around either. We are excited to start summer school and I am gearing up for next year! This second time around I feel much more equipped to roll up my sleeves and "put my shoulder to the wheel". I know I couldn't have done what I have without the unfailing support of Jason! He really is an amazing husband he supports me in all aspects of my life and any decisions I make. I love him very much!

Shiloh

Shiloh, is our little comedian.
